Also available on PC. “Off the back of the more action-oriented sidestep of 2025’s Silent Hill f, Silent Hill: Townfall feels like Konami’s seminal survival horror series returning to what it does best. Its atmosphere is oppressively ominous, its central mystery is genuinely compelling to unravel and packed with themes that feel fresh, and its army of disfigured demons are exhilarating to both encounter and evade. The CRTV device that spots enemies hidden in your surroundings might slightly diminish the story’s ability to deliver major scares early on, but when Townfall eventually got me, it made sure it got me good. It also has some of the most cleverly designed and challenging puzzles I’ve experienced in any horror game in recent memory, many involving impeccable recreations of technology from yesteryear that really transported me back to its mid-nineties setting. Like the intravenous needle permanently jutting out of its hero’s wrist, Silent Hill: Townfall gives this long running series a welcome shot in the arm.”
