The fight only gets you close. Then the kill is in your hands. Koschei the Deathless keeps his death in a needle, in an egg, in a duck, in a hare. Hunt them down, crack the egg, and bend the needle yourself until it snaps. Baba Yaga wanted to know how you sit on a baker's shovel. Haul her to her own oven by the hair, pin her fingers to the bricks with your knives, and shut the door. The Snow Queen wants the word ETERNITY. Spell her something else out of her own ice, then break her heart with a splinter of it.Every boss fights like nobody else Yaga's hut gets up on its hen's legs and comes for you through the bog. The Queen's floor is a mirror. She dives under the ice and only her reflection hunts you. Her shards make you forget how to dash, throw or parry. At the end of her strength the page goes white, and there is nothing of her left to see but a beating red heart.Sharp handsCut, parry at the last moment, dash through the blow, pogo off a blade, throw your knives and go pull them back out. Red blows can't be parried. Bosses have posture, and breaking it opens a kill.Wear your coat inside outThe wood walks you in circles and there is no map out of it. Grandmother stitched that lining blue for a reason: turn your coat and the world shows you what the red side can't see. Spirits, liars, a queen on a white page, your own face in the glass.The Tree keeps what you takeEvery boss you kill hangs from the roots of the world tree and leaves you one thing: Koschei's chain, Yaga's skull, the Queen's splinter. Carry two into each hunt.Yaga's skull burns thorns and shows what is hidden, and you get three lights per map, with nothing to give them back. Spend them well: the lost pages of the tale are out there in the dark, and seven seals are waiting under the Tree.A book that bleedsA hand-cut silhouette world in the spirit of Lotte Reiniger and sumi-e ink. Full voice acting. When the worst moments land, the whole page turns red.Note on the violence: this is a game about killing fairy-tale monsters, by hand, on purpose.
